Meditations on Three Prayers is a hybrid exploration of multiple identities rooted in spirituality and feminism. Using performance tropes such as the walk and crawl, the artist allows herself to be momentarily unrestricted and nude but only in the presence of projected images of women praying and a camera man who is in fact the artist’s husband. Anida created this original score/soundtrack based on passages about women in the bible and quran in combination with sufi, arab, and gospel music. This work is seldom seen in the public and remains one of the boldest performance acts she have ever completed.
